Heritage apartments in Clifton and Redland often keep marble or timber surrounds, deep window reveals, ceiling roses and panelled doors. Our role is to keep those elements readable while introducing seating, lighting and textiles that soften acoustics for children and guests.

Fireplaces as calm centres

We avoid blocking chimney breasts with tall media units. Instead we balance a low console or bench, frame the opening with rugs that stop short of the hearth, and choose mantel styling that can be cleared quickly. Where a fireplace is decorative only, we still treat it as the room’s geometric heart.

Listed constraints as design awareness

If your building is listed or sits in a conservation area, we plan reversible soft finishes and avoid drilling advice that would require consent. We do not issue legal opinions; we simply keep styling proposals respectful of fabric that may need specialist approval for permanent change.
