Challenge
A young family inherited a ground-floor flat where shutters stuck open and the reception felt formal but unused. Toys migrated into the hallway.
Response
We planned a soft seating cluster clear of shutter swing, added washable rugs and a closed storage bench in the hall. Colour stayed linen-warm with a wine accent on the chimney breast. Package value: £2,150 design fee plus client-funded soft goods.
Redland Victorian terrace for three generations
Challenge
Grandparents living upstairs, parents and children on the lower floors — circulation on the stairs felt unsafe with loose runners and bulky dressers on landings.
Response
Family layout work clarified handrail clearances, replaced oversized pieces with shallow storage, and unified colour so the house read as one home. Listed constraints on external fabric were noted as awareness only; all changes were soft finishes and furniture. Design fee: £3,200.
Totterdown terrace bedroom floor
Challenge
Two children’s rooms and a narrow landing needed calm sleep and homework space without fighting original architraves.
Response
Soft furnishings led: blackout drapery, low beds, and a shared landing desk. Colour for period homes kept walls quiet and doors as accents. Room-focus package: £980.
Harbourside conversion seeking heritage warmth
Challenge
A newer shell lacked period features but the clients wanted the atmosphere of a Clifton apartment for family evenings.
Response
We introduced fireplace-scale furniture, textured textiles and a wine-and-linen palette that echoes Bristol stone without imitation mouldings. Apartment edit: £1,850.
